Report: Tyler Myers Had Knee Surgery 3 Weeks Ago

Tyler Myers( 8 goals and 15 assists in 55 games in a 2011-12) had a up and down year this past season, injuries along with very inconsistent play was a big part of his sub par season.

According to Dave Davis of Kukla's Korner, Myers had knee surgery to clean up the source of the discomfort.

The Sabres star defenseman was hampered for most or all of this past season by a lingering knee problem that felt worse in some games than others.
Myers was told following the surgery that the source of the discomfort was found and cleaned up.

There’s no reason to believe that this amounted to more than a minor procedure, and it’s anticipated that Myers will be 100% ready to go for training camp.

Bruins sign Chris Kelly 4yrs, 12 million, Somewhere Tyler Ennis is smiling big.

A few minutes ago TSN's Bob Mckenzie announced the re-signing of Chris Kelley in Boston.

BOS agrees to terms with Chris Kelly on four-year, $12M deal and Gregory Campbell on three-year, $4.8M deal. AAVs of $3M and $1.6M.
It takes no rocket scientist to figure out that Tyler Ennis (Pending RFA on July 1st) is going to make some money this off-season.

Kelly, who is going to average 3 million per year only had 39 points in 82 games played. Ennis, who only played 48 games this year, ended up with 34 points.

Kelly averaged less ice time, and would have had less points if Ennis played an entire season. So i guess its a given that Tyler Ennis should be asking for 3.5 to 4 million per season, right?

With the CBA coming to an end, players want their payday, so does that mean Ennis might reach the 4 million mark?

All i know is the Sabres have to bring back Ennis.

Sabres Announce Broadcast Changes, Brian Duff and Rob Ray Receive Full Time Posistions

The Buffalo Sabres have announced broadcast changes for 2012-13 season.

One of the major changes will be Rob Ray being added to the broadcast booth as the full-time color analyst. Brian Duff has also signed a new deal with the team to serve as the full-time in-game host for all Sabres broadcasts on MSG.

One more thing that was announced and i really love this idea, is the creation of a new Sabres radio show, hosted by Kevin Sylvester, which will air daily and makes its debut on June 18.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (June 11, 2012) --- Buffalo Sabres President Ted Black today announced a slate of changes to Buffalo Sabres broadcasts for the 2012-13 season. Among the major changes will be Rob Ray being added to the broadcast booth as the full-time color analyst and the creation of a new Sabres radio show, hosted by Kevin Sylvester, which will air daily and makes its debut on June 18.           Ray, an eight-year veteran of the Sabres broadcast team, enters his first stint as a full-time color commentator and will provide analysis for all 82 games in the 2012-13 season. He joins Sabres Hall-of-Famer Rick Jeanneret in the booth as Jeanneret, currently the longest-tenured broadcaster in hockey, embarks on his 41st season behind the microphone. Jeanneret, after calling a more limited number of games last season, has signed a new, multi-year contract and will increase the number of games he will call in 2012-13.
The team will also be rolling out its new radio program, Sabres Hockey Hotline, on WGR 550, beginning Monday, June 18. The program will be broadcast live from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday year-round from the Sabres Store at First Niagara Center. The show will be an additional outlet for Sabres fans to hear exclusive interviews, analysis, team updates, as well as game and practice recaps. WGR 550, the team’s official radio station, and the Sabres have been broadcast partners for a combined 25 years over the course of the franchise’s 42-year history.

Report: Sabres interested in Penguins' Jordan Staal

Lyle Richardson of The Hockey News talks about all the rumors sourounding Pittsburgh Penguins Jordan Staal. In his blog he mentions an article by Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch.

The Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch mentioned Staal among his “top five pre-draft trade possibilities,” and listed the Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues among the interested teams.
Garrioch mentions the St. Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres as two teams interested in acquiring Staal.

3. Jordan Staal, C, Pittsburgh: This guy would attract plenty of attention. He is the best third-line centre in the league.
The Penguins are going to have to clear cash if they’re going to keep this team together. That could mean moving out a player like Staal because Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin aren’t going anywhere.

Several teams would like to make a pitch for Staal — including the Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues. The Sabres want to get bigger in the middle, which is why Derek Roy has been made available.

Lets face it, Lindy Ruff would love to have a dynamic two-way forward. But, is he the top line center that the Sabres want.? Staal has been playing behind two superstars in Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin and Sydney Crosby. He does however play against teams top lines every night, so that's a plus. But if the Sabres do acquire him and play him with Vanek or even Pominville, will he put up great numbers.?

(Thanks to NHL.com for Stats) As you can see from comparing the stats in Regular Season, Jordan Staal was better. Staal is also better defensively and he is consistent, unlike someone we all know, Derek Roy. Now the problem we run into is the Fact that the Penguins will not take Derek Roy, the only reason they may trade Staal is for cap purposes. So, we now have to look at giving up a first round pick, which the Sabres have. They will also need to trade away some prospects. I wouldn't mind if the Sabres traded d-man Mark Pysyk, center Luke Adam and Nashville's first rounder. But then again wouldn't that be a lot for a player that may only play in Buffalo for one year.? I guess only time will tell, we all know the Sabres are looking to make a big move and Jordan Staal could be the player we need in Buffalo.

Hockey Heaven? Maybe we should take a step back.

I like how the Pegula era in Buffalo started of by saying "This is Hockey Heaven," "The only reason for existence is to win Stanley Cups."

I understand that last off-season was exciting for us all, who wouldn't be happy about getting two solid defensemen in Robyn Regher and Christian Ehrhoff.? As fans in Buffalo we tend to stray away from the big picture, we always look for the easy way out. Thats why when the Sabres lost 12 road games in a row most of us blamed Lindy Ruff. Where we wrong to do so? No. Where we right to place blame on him.? Sure, at the time it seemed like the easiest thing to do.

I guess what i am trying to say is, we all need to take a step back and look at how the future of the franchise is looking.

Its great that Terry Pegula invested a ton of money into the roster and the locker room. It is also great that he purchased Rochester Americans. I mean there really is not one thing he has done wrong. Well, maybe there is one, he has let our GM Darcy Regier keep the core together
.
I would love to call Buffalo Hockey Heaven. But, in Heaven it should be nice and peaceful right.? So watching Derek Roy, Drew Stafford and Thomas Vanek should make us relaxed and enjoying all aspects of hockey.

Thomas Vanek, the guy who is the highest paid Austrian athlete played most of the season hurt, he will not tell the Media about it, but he will write in his blog about the 10 things that are wrong with him.
First things first: I have to decline the invitation to join Team Austria for the Division I championship. There are too many little injuries that hamper me. My chest’s been hurting since January, I have an ankle-sprain and the shoulder’s also not completely a hundred percent. I’m just glad that I don’t need any surgery, but I do need a few weeks away from the ice to let all those little nagging injuries heal themselves. I had some good talks with head coach Manny Viveiros and he understands me. He’s been a player for a long time himself. I really have to say that the communication with Manny was the best I’ve ever had with a head coach from Team Austria. In the end it would be the same as a few years ago at the championships in Switzerland. I came to help the team, but my jaw fracture hindered me too much. Coming this year I would only take away a roster spot from a healthy player who could help the team much more than I could.
Ohh but that's not all, he even thanks the secondary scoring for coming alive for one game.
That was a cool game against Boston. Finally, we’re on the right way again, the pieces of the puzzle start to fit. We now have the so important secondary scoring, Ryan just can’t be beaten in goal and we also stand up physically to our opponents. This season is not over by a long stretch. We still believe in our playoff-chance. We did it last year, so why shouldn’t we this year? There’s a row of home-games now and we’ve been playing really strong at home since December. Also, we got back our road-game, so all in all things are looking god for the next weeks.
Derek Roy is a hot topic right now as he is still be shopped around by MR. Darcy. The asking price at last years deadline was a Younger forward with top 6 potential, and prospect or pick. I hate to say it, but Roy's value is fading quickly. Please dont think he will be traded for Penguins Jordan Staal or for Rick Nash in Columbus, because it is not going to happen.

I guess, i am not ready to call Buffalo ' Hockey Heaven ' just yet. But i am ready for a big change and from this blog i am hoping you can see what i am trying to point out.

Sabres Offer Joel Armia Entry Level Contract

According to a report out of Finland, the Buffalo Sabres have offered 2011 1st round pick (16th overall) Joel Armia a entry level contract. When i brought this to Buffalo News' Bucky Gleason's attention, he quickly confirmed the report via Twitter.
Finnish reporter covering SCF confirms story says Armia has been offered the entry-level deal and must respond by Friday.
However, if you expect him to be in a Sabres uniform this year, dont get your hopes up as Bucky shot that down quickly after.
Finnish reporter says agent for Armia says he'll stay in Finland next year regardless to complete military service, plus develop game.
This was expected, although some wait until off-season, most players overseas tend to take care of there military service before coming to play in the NHL.

The Journey Begins...

I guess i can start my blogging adventure off by telling you a bit about myself.

My name is Chris and most people know me on twitter as NHL Gossip. I am 29 years old an reside in  Western, NY.  I am a HUGE hockey fan, my favorite team is the Buffalo Sabres of course.

Enough about me, now i am going to tell you what i will be blogging about.

I have been following bloggers and mainstream media for about 4 years online. I have learned some tricks and also made some friends along the way. The reason i have decided to start this blog, well, i think it is time.

I read Kuklas Korner all the time and there is one writer that i would like to mimic this blog after, George Malik From the Malik Report  on KK. If you have not heard of him, he is a Detroit Red Wings blogger that covers the Wings like none other. He is always on top of the news surrounding his team and also gives his honest opinion ( I Think).

So, if you haven't figured it out, i will be doing the same thing. I will cover all the Sabres news and post regularly. I will keep you up to date with all the Trades, Signings, Rumors and everything that pertains to the Buffalo Sabres. I might even throw in a few other news tidbits, who knows.

If you can't tell, my writing skills are sub par, i guess i should have paid better attention in school ( Atleast i graduated.) I will start blogging this week and i hope it works out as well as i think it will.
